Wendy Provins was born and raised in Flin Flon, Manitoba but has resided in various parts of Canada as well as a four year stint in Brisbane, Australia. She only recently relocated/retired to Keremeos, BC in May of 2014 and feels at this stage of her life she is exactly where she needs to be. She immediately became deeply involved in the local art community. The Similkameen Valley continues to inspire her on a daily basis. Wendy is basically a self taught artist although she has taken college and community courses wherever her travels have taken her . She feels there is always something to be learned from every instructor. About ten years ago, Wendy was diagnosed with a genetic condition called Marfan  Syndrome.  This is a connective tissue disorder and it affected the vision in both eyes.  Following six eye surgeries over a period of two years, her vision is nearly normal.  It was during this recovery period that she picked up her brushes and rekindled her passion for watercolours.

For the past four years, she has taken her art is a different direction focusing mainly on acrylic abstracts. Her work has often been described as bright, colourful and somewhat whimsical.  There are often trees and circles found within her creations.

Her work can currently be found at several locations in Manitoba including The Orange Toad coffee/book shop in Flin Flon, The Grist Mill and Tree to Me in Keremeos BC, and the recently opened Okanagan Art Gallery in Osoyoos, BC. Her work can also be found at Stag’s Hollow Winery in Okanagan Falls, BC.

Wendy was one of the first fifteen artists accepted for the inaugral opening at the  Peachland  Art Gallery, has had two art shows at Tree to Me in the past year  in Keremeos, and was part of Bonny Roberts’ Art in the Garden this past July (2015).

Wendy is currently a member of the South Similkameen Art Society, The Canadian Federation of Artists, The Peachland Art Gallery and the newly formed Okanagan Art Gallery.
